It does this by providing a user interface which is as simple as using drag and drop, but with the additional benefit that it can copy multiple files at once. Another of its features is that it allows for copying files from CD/DVD discs to your hard drive, which is especially useful if the media your CDs/DVDs are on doesn't support autoplay. UltraCopier has a number of parts:UltraCopier was originally a Windows .NET Desktop Application written in C# and Visual Basic .NET but has since been ported to Linux and Unix-like operating systems such as FreeBSD, Mac OS X, OpenBSD, NetBSD and Solaris by several volunteers using Mono. Originally UltraCopier relied on the Microsoft . NET Framework and had various issues. However, the Linux and Unix ports have been developed using Mono and therefore no longer require the Microsoft .NET Framework. The FreeBSD port has no dependencies on GNU C library and runs on both x86 and amd64 platforms that use the FreeBSD kernel. Although originally developed as a Windows application, it has been ported to Linux/Unix by several volunteers who used Mono.Software usage: It is not possible to launch UltraCopier as an executable (among other reasons, as this would allow any user to make copies of any file however this is not desirable). Therefore, the program must be manually run. This is done by "su"ing to an account with permission to run it, then running the script which will start up UltraCopier. A window called "Sudo Copier" will open with a menu on the left containing re-entrant menu entries. The topmost item on this menu is "UltraCopier". If UltraCopier is already running, it will be stopped. Otherwise one of the already running instances is killed and another invoked taking command line arguments from the user or otherwise specified through OS environment variables. The OS X port was first released in January 2012 for OS X 10. 6 Snow Leopard. The code was later ported to OS X 10.7 Lion in November 2012 using Mono 2.10, and later to OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion in June 2013 using Mono 4.0. The port to the Linux/Unix platform was launched in May 2011 by an independent developer who preferred not to be named for security reasons, but took time out of his daily work activities to compile it for the Linux platform. 34cfa1e7782064
